New breed of direct injection engine saves gas, reduces greenhouse gases
A couple of days ago Ford loaned me a 2011 F150 pickup truck to see what I thought about it, and 200 kms into the project, I’m impressed. It’s one of only two of its kind in the province right now, and there’s one feature in particular that caught my eye. The model I’ve got is configured for contractors, and the 3.5 litre, V6 gas engine has the kind of direct fuel injection normally found only on diesels. This kind of new technology let’s the motor put out as much power as a V8 that’s 50% larger, while using 20% less fuel than even the most economical V6s. I’ve got the truck for the rest of the week, and I’m making a video about my experiences. I’ll post another blog when the footage is up for viewing.
