Threaded steel pipe is useful for all kinds of things and we use it fairly often here at our place at the end of Bailey Line Road. Watch my son Robert and I as we cut threads by hand on the end of a 3/4″ galvanized steel pipe using a hand-powered die and some simple tools for holding the pipe.

The ratchet system you’ll see here is slower than the electric powered tools that professionals use. That said this works just as well, costs far less money, and is easier to store between uses. If you’ve never seen big pipe threads being cut, click below to watch the whole process.
