The Great Outdoors and DIY Weekend Days Away

Just a few days left before the Great Outdoors and DIY Weekend! Here’s a little sneak preview of some of the topics I’ll be talking about:

  • Building a Great Little Four-Season Cottage: Cottages don’t have to be big and expensive. They also don’t have to look like something transplanted out of suburbia. In this seminar, I share my real-world experiences building a 600 sq.ft. cabin that combines the classic good looks of a traditional design with construction details that are easy to use and long lasting. Hidden behind the cozy shape and homey interior decor are energy efficient details that make it warm, cozy and easy to heat. I’ll come equipped to show images, while also offering free printed plans for my cabin design to seminar participants. Takes place on Friday at 3pm, Saturday at 2pm, and Sunday at 3pm.
  • Home & Cottage Improvement Q&A: This is a perennial favourite with show goers. Beginning with projected images to get questions going, I answer specific home improvement and construction questions from the audience. It’s sort of like the Q&A column I’ve written for the Toronto Star since 1997. In past years this seminar usually attracts big audiences. Takes place Friday at 11:30am, Saturday at 9:30am, Sunday at 11:30am.
  • Cool Tools for the Workshop: In this woodworking-focussed seminar, I share the latest and greatest tools I’m using in my own workshop. I’ll come equipped with images and hands-on examples of the gear that I think make a difference. Takes place Friday at 12:30pm and Saturday at 10:30am.

I also have Meet and Greets as part of the Canadian Home WorkshopAsk a Pro” section happening on Friday at 5pm, Saturday at noon, and Sunday at 1pm.

The show runs from November 25 to 27 at the International Centre in Mississauga. Hope to see you there!
